In the end, it looks like Stanley Kubrick faked the moon landings in return for two things. The first was a virtually unlimited budget to make his ultimate science fiction film: 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the second was that he would be able to make any film he wanted, with no oversight from anyone, for the rest of his life.

I show how Kubrick designed the black monolith to be exactly the same size as the screen on which 2001 was projected. The monolith and the screen are the same thing. The monolith is the screen and the screen is the monolith.

When one realizes that Kubrick also used the Front Screen Projection system - not only for the ape scenes in 2001 - but also the fake moon landings - we can see a double, or even possibly a triple meaning, inside the idea that the screen is the monolith and the monolith is the screen.

If the monolith is that device that enlightens humanity then the Front Screen Projection system, and its unmistakable fingerprints, is the device that enlightens humanity as to how the Apollo landings were faked.

Because he had negotiated a deal where no one would be given oversight on the film, Kubrick was allowed to make whatever movie he desired. Knowing that no one would object to his anti-Hollywood methods, he created the first abstract feature film, the first intellectual movie and the greatest esoteric work of art in the 20 th century.

The President of MGM, at the time in 1968, publicly stated, that he never even saw a rough cut of 2001: A Space Odyssey during the entire four years of production. Does that sound like the manner in which a head of a major studio would act? 2001: A Space Odyssey was one of the most expensive films ever made at that time. Does it even seem remotely possible that no one at MGM even cared to see the continuous progress of the film?

No way.

I am sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the only film in MGM history where the executives who funded the movie never scrutinized the film.

Why werent they more interested in this very expensive endeavor?

Because MGM did not fund 2001, the US Government did.

With recognition that the laws of thermodynamics prohibit spontaneous evolution of liquid hydrocarbons in the regime of temperature and pressure characteristic of the crust of the Earth, one should not expect there to exist legitimate scientific evidence that might suggest that such could occur. Indeed, and correctly, there exists no such evidence.

Nonetheless, and surprisingly, there continue to be often promulgated diverse claims purporting to constitute evidence that natural petroleum somehow evolves (miraculously) from biological matter. In this short article, such claims are briefly subjected to scientific scrutiny, demonstrated to be without merit, and dismissed.

The scientific correction must be stated unequivocally: There have never been observed any specifically biological molecules in natural petroleum, except as contaminants. Petroleum is an excellent solvent for carbon compounds; and, in the sedimentary strata from which petroleum is often produced, natural petroleum takes into solution much carbon material, including biological detritus. However, such contaminants are unrelated to the petroleum solvent.

The claims about biomarkers have been thoroughly discredited by observations of those molecules in the interiors of ancient, abiotic meteorites, and also in many cases by laboratory synthesis under imposed conditions mimicking the natural environment. In the discussion below, the claims put forth about porphyrin and isoprenoid molecules are addressed particularly, because many look-like/come-from claims have been put forth for those compounds.

The similar(recondite)-properties come-from claims involve diverse, odd phenomena with which persons not working directly in a scientific profession would be unfamiliar. These include the odd-even abundance imbalance claims, the carbon isotope claims, and the optical-activity claims. The first, the odd-even abundance imbalance claims, are demonstrated to be utterly unrelated to any biological property. The second, carbon isotope claims, are shown to depend upon measurement of an obscure property of carbon fluids which cannot reliably be considered a measure of origin. The third, the optical-activity claims, deserve particular note; for the observations of optical activity in natural petroleum have been trumpeted loudly for years as a proof of some biological origin of petroleum. Those claims have been thoroughly discredited decades ago by observation of optical activity in the petroleum material extracted from the interiors of carbonaceous meteorites. More significantly, recent analysis, which has resolved the previously-outstanding problem of the genesis of optical activity in abiotic fluids, has established that the phenomenon of optical activity is an inevitable thermodynamic consequence of the phase stability of multicomponent fluids at high pressures. Thereby, the observation of optical activity in natural petroleum is entirely consistent with the results of the thermodynamic analysis of the stability of the hydrogen-carbon [H-C] system, which establish that hydrocarbon molecules heavier than methane, and particularly liquid hydrocarbons, evolve spontaneously only at high pressures, comparable to those necessary for diamond formation.

Some examples of the importance of childrens vitamins in health maintenance, where vitamins and supplements improved children nutrition and functioning, are the following:

In 1973 Dr. Bernard Rimland, of the Institute for Child Behavior Research in San Diego, dosed 190 severely emotionally disturbed children with vitamin C, iron and a Bcomplex formula, including additional B5 and B6. More than 160 children showed some improvement after a three month period.
In 1980 Dr. Ruth Harrell of Old Dominion University, Virginia, dosed sixteen mentally retarded children with vitamin and mineral supplements. In eight months the average IQ increase was about 10, with one child's IQ increasing by 25 points. Considering these children were mentally retarded, Dr. Harrell's results proved an astounding demonstration of the importance of vitamins to health, regarding children nutrition.
The Academy of Pediatrics questioned Dr. Harrel's results due to their belief that mental retardation is often genetically based, and, thus, not expected to be influenced by supplements improving child nutrition. To the contrary, improving children nutrition with vitamins and minerals, not only may compensate for genetic abnormalities, but can help repair genetic material, again underscoring the importance of childrens vitamins in health.
One study compared undernourished black children with well nourished black children over a period of seven years. By age eight the well-nourished black children had IQs that averaged over 20 points higher than their undernourished brethren-another remarkable demonstration of the influenceof the importance of childrens vitamins to health and intelligence.
Another study found mothers who received vitamin supplements during pregnancy bore children with higher IQs than those who did not.
In a study by Dr. Michael Colgan of New Zealand, from 1977 to 1979, he treated sixteen cases of children classified as hyperactive, minimally brain damaged, autisticor slow learners. All supplementation was individually designed. Toxic metals, allergies, and poor diets were treated too. Each case showed improvements in behavior, in school, at home, in motor coordination, reading skills and speech articulation. IQs improved almost 18 points on the average-a testament to the importance of vitamins.

Few Americans realize that many of our federal environmental laws and regulations originate at the international level. These laws have a devastating affect on private property, stripping hundreds of millions, perhaps billions of dollars of land value from rural citizens. Federal documents reveal that agencies have a greater desire to enforce these internationally born socialist laws than to protect and serve the citizens of the United States.

The Endangered Species Act, for instance, is authorized by a number of United Nations administered treaties, not on the enumerated powers of Congress given in Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution. These treaties include the Convention on Nature Protection and Wildlife Preservation in the Western Hemisphere and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Likewise, the RAMSAR Convention of Wetlands is the pattern for much of the federal wetlands regulation even though the Clean Water Act does not even specifically mention wetlands.

Translated, this means signature states must pass and enforce laws that limit land use activities that may cause harm to biological diversity within ecosystems which includes nearly all land use activities. The publication of the eleven-hundred page 1995 UN Global Biodiversity Assessment (GBA) spelled out this idea and helped define how to write the implementing language for the incomplete treaty.

The GBA calls for property owners to: cede rights to some decision-making regulatory authority [because] resources are non-exclusive in their use: they are in the nature of local public goods. Property rights can still be allocated to the environmental public good, but in this case they should be restricted to usufructual or user rights. Harvesting quotas, emissions permits and the development rights are examples of such rights.

This represents a blatant contradiction to the very intent of the U.S. Constitution which the Founding Fathers designed to protect private property rights, not control them. Even so, the real danger of this treaty was its intent to place 30 to 50 percent of the U.S. into wilderness reserves and interconnecting corridors in order to protect ecosystems and biodiversity.

All of the textbooks that I have seen that discuss the issue of animal intelligence have taken a position like that of Chomsky--that any knowledge animals have is either rigidly instinctual, or else is just a set of movements that have been mechanically learned. On a very hot day at the end of summer, a couple of plump jays were squawking and apparently trying to get my attention while I was watering the front yard, and I idly wondered why they would be acting that way so late in the year. I had gone around the house to water things in the back yard, and the birds came over the house, and were still squawking, and trying to get my attention. I realized that their excitement didn't have anything to do with their nest, and looking more carefully, I saw that they were young birds. As it dawned on me that they were interested in the water squirting out of the hose, I aimed the stream up towards them, and they got as close to it as they could. Since the force of the stream might have hurt them, I put on a nozzle that made a finer spray, and the birds immediately came down to the lowest tip of the branch, where they could get the full force of the mist, holding out their wings, and leaning into the spray so that it ruffled their breast feathers. Their persistence had finally paid off when they got me to understand what they wanted, and they were enjoying the cool water. As new young birds, I don't know how they understood hoses and squirting water, but it was clear that they recognized me as a potentially intelligent being with whom they could communicate.

We are now, I fear, in the early stages of a third depression. Around the world governments are obsessing about inflation when the real threat is deflation, preaching the need for belt-tightening when the real problem is inadequate spending. After all, unemployment especially long-term unemployment remains at levels that would have been considered catastrophic not long ago, and shows no sign of coming down rapidly.

More than 8 million jobs have been lost since the beginning of the crisis, and yet, President Barack Obama has made no attempt to initiate a second stimulus. Government spending must increase to make up for the slack in demand and to increase capacity. Withdrawing stimulus now, while the economy is still weak, will crimp spending, collapse state tax revenues and increase unemployment.

The only way to reduce a deficit caused by unemployment is to reduce unemployment. And this must be done with a substantial component of private financing, which is to say by bank credit, if the public deficit is going to be reduced.

The economy cannot grow without private sector credit expansion. But the banks are constrained by toxic assets and a lack of creditworthy applicants. On the other hand, deleveraging households and consumers are less willing to borrow at any rate. Retirement age boomers" have lost nearly $12 trillion in net wealth since the crisis began and must hunker-down and save for the years ahead.

High unemployment has led to falling demand which is stifling investment. As households continue to deleverage, many companies will opt to pay down debt rather than seek new investments. This will further reduce economic activity and deepen the slump.

The economy is at a tipping point. CPI is is slipping from disinflation to outright deflation. The cash-strapped states are laying off workers in droves. The rate of underemployment has soared to 16.5%. There are 6 applicants for every new job created. GOP senators and congressmen have quashed a bill that would extend unemployment benefits to over a million workers.

The final debt-driven collapse, in which both wages and profitability plunge, gives the lie to the neoclassical perception that crises are caused by wages being too high, and the solution to the crisis is to reduce wages.

The FOMC's June statement was a real stunner. The economy is losing-ground in nearly every area. Household spending, business spending, bank lending and housing are all either beginning to slow or falling sharply. The recovery is largely a mirage created by inventory adjustments and fiscal stimulus. 46 of the 50 states are mired in huge deficits that will require substantial cuts to balance.

The recovery is not self sustaining.

Asphalt, commonly known to us as the material that covers our streets, has been found flowing out of mounds that rise 450 to 800 meters above the desert-like floor of the Gulf of Mexico. Researchers discovered the asphalt volcanoes during a cruise of the research vessel Sonne. First observed in video footage, the structures were confirmed by bottom samples taken during the expedition. We were actually only searching for the presence of methane at the seafloor, instead we found a new kind of volcano associated with a complex ecosystem," relates Prof. Gerhard Bohrmann enthusiastically.

The researchers surmise that such asphalt volcanoes only occur in the Gulf of Mexico, but that they are abundant there, because the conditions required for their formation - deep water, salt diapirs below the seafloor, and the presence of oil deposits - are found only here.

When special microorganisms deep below the seafloor degrade petroleum, asphalt remains as a waste product. It is not unusual to find small amounts of this, but in some places in the Gulf of Mexico the asphalt covers more than a square kilometer of sea bottom. Video recordings of this mound clearly show how the asphalt flowed out of the crater and down the slope. The pictures are amazingly reminiscent of lava from volcanoes on land. In addition, they are home to numerous life forms: tube worms, clams, fish, crabs, and - typical for deep-sea oases - abundant bacteria.

Asphalt is commonly presumed to be hostile to life. Nevertheless, we have now found a complete ecosystem, not only living on the asphalt, but also apparently feeding on it, says Bohrmann. The amazing thing about this is: as a waste product asphalt no longer contains the usual basic deep-sea nutrients, methane and hydrogen sulfide. Almost all animals living in the deep sea feed on such chemical compounds because energy from the sun only penetrates the upper layer of the ocean.

Reactions within the US establishment to the firing of Gen. Stanley McChrystal indicate that disparaging remarks by McChrystal and his aides concerning President Obama and other civilian officials published in a Rolling Stone article were not the principal cause of his dismissal.

That means huge quantities of methane have entered the Gulf, scientists say, potentially suffocating marine life and creating dead zones where oxygen is so depleted that nothing lives.

In early June, a research team led by Samantha Joye of the Institute of Undersea Research and Technology at the University of Georgia investigated a 15-mile-long plume drifting southwest from the leak site. They said they found methane concentrations up to 10,000 times higher than normal, and oxygen levels depleted by 40 percent or more.

The scientists found that some parts of the plume had oxygen concentrations just shy of the level that tips ocean waters into the category of dead zone- a region uninhabitable to fish, crabs, shrimp and other marine creatures.

Tim Adams, a former senior elections clerk for Honolulu, now teaches English at Western Kentucky University. There is no birth certificate, said Tim Adams, a graduate assistant who teaches English at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky. Its like an open secret. There isnt one. Everyone in the government there knows this.

I managed the absentee-ballot office. It was my job to verify the voters identity.

He says during the 2008 campaign when the issue of Obamas constitutional eligibility first arose, the elections office was inundated with requests to verify the birthplace of the U.S. senator from Illinois.

I had direct access to the Social Security database, the national crime computer, state drivers license information, international passport information, basically just about anything you can imagine to get someones identity, Adams explained. I could look up what bank your home mortgage was in. I was informed by my boss that we did not have a birth record [for Obama].

At the time, there were conflicting reports that Obama had been born at the Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, as well as the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children across town. So Adams says his office checked with both facilities.

They told us, We dont have a birth certificate for him, he said. They told my supervisor, either by phone or by e-mail, neither one has a document that a doctor signed off on saying they were present at this mans birth.

My concerns about the NRA immediately rose when I saw the word lawyer in describing the profession of the current NRA president and his immediate predecessor. I don't want lawyers in positions of power over anything that affects the liberty and safety of the American public

Troubling evidence surrounding the Deepwater Horizon explosion on April 20th suggests that the incident could have been manufactured.

On April 12th, just over one week before the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded, Halliburton, the worlds second largest oilfield services corporation, surprised some by acquiring Boots & Coots, a relatively small but vastly experienced oil well control company.

The company deals with fires and blowouts on oil rigs and oil wells. It was responsible for putting out roughly one third of the more than 700 oil well fires set in Kuwait by retreating Iraqi soldiers during the Gulf War.

Halliburton was forced to admit in testimony at a congressional hearing last month that it carried out a cementing operation 20 hours before the Gulf of Mexico rig went up in flames. The lawsuits claim that four Halliburton workers stationed on the rig improperly capped the well.

As the New York Times noted on May 26th, BP officials chose, partly for financial reasons, to use a type of casing for the well that the company knew was the riskier of two options.

Workers from the rig and company officials have said that hours before the explosion, gases were leaking through the cement, which had been set in place by the oil services contractor, Halliburton. Investigators have said these leaks were the likely cause of the explosion.

According to a 2007 study by Minerals Management Service, cementing was a factor in 18 of 39 rig blowouts in the gulf between 1992 and 2006.

BP has admitted to buying Yahoo and Google keywords in an attempt to control publicly available information in the wake of the catastrophe. It seems that the company is taking all the flack for the spill while the Halliburton link is being roundly ignored.

BPs prepared testimony briefing, which has since leaked online, also intriguingly notes that the Hydraulic Control System on equipment designed to automatically seal the well in an emergency was modified without their knowledge sometime before the explosion.
